About The Position

The Department of Public Health, Animal Care Division is accepting applications for Animal Care Senior Office Assistant who perform complex clerical support duties. Duties may include but are not limited to: Managing incoming calls from animal rescue partners and the public Coordinating and supporting the full animal adoption process Processing adoption payments and related documentation Scheduling animals for surgeries and medical appointments Preparing and filing vouchers, adoption contracts, and medical release waivers Verifying the jurisdiction and intake eligibility of animals brought to the shelter Weekend availability is required. Applicants who indicate they are not available to work weekends will not move forward in the recruitment process. Requirements

  • Six (6) months of full-time office clerical experience gained at San Bernardino County. Duties must include a variety of office clerical tasks, including public contact, computer usage, typing, filing, answering the telephone, and data entry.
  • One (1) year of full-time work experience performing clerical functions in an office environment. Duties must include a variety of office clerical tasks, including public contact, computer usage, typing, filing, answering the telephone, and data entry.
  • Successful completion of the Career Path Builder Program and attainment of the Entry-Level Workplace Certificate issued by San Bernardino County. The certificate must be attached to your application for consideration.
  • Applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Travel throughout the County may be required and employees will be required to make provisions for such transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Skills (Spanish/English) are highly desirable and should be noted on the application.
  • Excellent Computer Skills are also highly desirable and should be noted in the supplemental questionnaire.
