About The Position

Finlays Solutions' Analytical Research Intern will take part in practical research projects in the tea and coffee beverage industry. This role will provide a fantastic opportunity to understand how analytical chemistry is used in industry. Additionally, training on commonly used advanced analytical equipment including HPLC and GC-MS will be provided.

Requirements

  • Desire to learn about advanced analytical techniques including HPLC and GC-MS.
  • Some experience with basic laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Not afraid to ask questions.
  • Effective and concise written and oral communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred to be currently enrolled in a four-year Food Science or Natural Science degree program.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a summer project relating to a current topic of interest for Finlays Solutions.
  • Conduct routine analytical testing and supply results within the standard turnaround time.
  • Closely follow internal standard operating procedures for all tests and laboratory operations.
  • Follow documentation procedures by keeping an organized and detailed record of all laboratory work.
  • Maintain the inventory of laboratory consumables.
  • Clean laboratory glassware and equipment daily.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate findings and resolutions.
  • Carry out other miscellaneous duties.
