Job Responsibilities: Mission of the Position: The Customs Compliance Analyst will have responsibility for various Customs Compliance tasks to support the facilities assisted by the MPT Customs Team. This position will be the Subject Matter Expert on classification activities for parts for both Direct and Indirect material (e.g., HTS and Schedule B) and will work closely with vendors, suppliers and manufacturers to obtain information necessary to make classification determinations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or an Operations Management related field strongly preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years of related work experience.
  • U.S. & Canadian regulatory import, export, and re-export trade compliance experience.
  • Complete understanding of U.S. CBP and CBSA Regulations, including knowledge of Customs valuation and classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S. & Canada
  • Understand country of origin and marking issues, record keeping requirements, and supply chain security regulations as they relate to imports.
  • Practice and maintain integrity while following Magna’s Charter and Constitution.
  • Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF 16949).
  • Drive the development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures to ensure duties of self are performed in a safe manner.
  • Understand applicable Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures in the workplace.
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, property damage immediately.
  • Follow safety rules.
  • Comply with requirements for the use or operation of machines or equipment.
  • Comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Customs Broker License and/or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for determining daily classifications for parts (e.g., HTS and Schedule B)
  • Analyzing HTS and control data across country regulations to identify country specific HTS and ECCN discrepancies and change management.
  • Supporting all global auditing of import and export/re-export transactions for the following as applicable: Adherence to procedures; proper documentation, classification, valuation, country of origin; assists; price reconciliation processes; licensing; Free Trade Agreement qualification; record keeping; marking and labelling, statistical reporting and any other measures to track and report KPIs, others
  • Identifying compliance gaps to established procedures in the classification of Magna Powertrain and Magna Electronics products and qualification of those products under any of the free trade agreements as well as in the business processes.
  • Provide decision support on day-to-day compliance matters.
  • Provide reporting and analytical support for other Compliance team initiatives, as necessary .
  • Process Mapping and Maintaining of departmental procedures.
  • Process and Systems improvements to adapt and integrate AI tools where applicable.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
