About The Position

Wayfair's Category Finance team drives overall financial performance by grounding insights and decisions in category-level financial results, as part of the broader Commercial Finance organization We do this by: Building robust, self-service financial reporting and P&Ls at the category, class, supplier, and product level Embedding with our global supplier organization to diagnose and solve profitability challenges Partnering with Commercial, Category Management, and central teams to design scalable strategies that scale revenue, and grow profit We're building the single source of truth for category financials and using it to unlock smarter decisions and durable growth. We're looking for a highly analytical, strategic finance professional who loves using data to solve complex problems and influence decisions. As an Analyst on the Category Finance team, you'll be a key thought partner to Commercial and Finance leadership—owning analyses, building reporting, and shaping how we understand and improve the financial health of our categories and suppliers. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role on a growing team where you'll have real ownership and the opportunity to help define our roadmap.

Requirements

  • Strong Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/Index-Match, SUMIFS, basic visualizations, and other advanced formulas)
  • Experience using Google BigQuery (GBQ) or SQL to query and analyze large data sets
  • Proven ability to structure problems, analyze large data sets, and connect findings to actionable business recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized and deliver in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects to completion with a strong sense of ownership
  • Clear, persuasive communication skills, including the ability to distill complex analyses into concise insights for senior leaders

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years in strategic or corporate finance, FP&A, investment banking, consulting, private equity, or an analytical role in Category Management/Merchandising

Responsibilities

  • Drive financial performance: Provide insight on category, supplier, and product-level P&Ls to influence growth and profitability decisions.
  • Build and scale reporting: Develop dashboards and self-service tools that make financial and operational performance easy to understand and act on.
  • Turn data into action: Translate broad business questions into clear analyses and recommendations, backed by strong quantitative work.
  • Partner across the business: Collaborate with Category Management, Commercial, and central teams to diagnose issues (e.g., margin drag, shipping cost, stocking decisions) and help design scalable solutions.
  • Shape the team's roadmap: Help evolve our financial reporting suite and analytical capabilities as we expand into new cuts of the P&L and deepen our partnership with the supplier organization.
