About The Position

We are in search of an experienced Payroll Manager that will work in a team of HR professionals that support the production of Americas and expatriate payroll for over 2,000 employees in a fast paced and dynamic work environment. The role will be responsible for the full production of US payroll, support the expatriate payroll and serve as the internal payroll tax subject matter expert working closely with teams across HR, Benefits, Compensation and Global Mobility; as well as partners in Finance and Legal. The Americas Payroll Manager will work within the payroll team and with one direct report to ensure the timely and accurate bi-monthly production of US payroll in Workday, support the monthly expatriate payroll and manage our third-party vendor to ensure timely and accurate tax filings. The Americas Payroll Manager will lead and manage the quarterly and annual tax and W-2 process including internal and external audits. The Americas Payroll Manager will lead relevant projects focused on payroll tax compliance, operation efficiency and controls and develop/maintain KPIs. The role requires deep knowledge of employment taxes, multi-jurisdictional taxation (both US domestic and international cross border), deferred compensation and expatriate tax knowledge. The role will also require vendor management, project management and stakeholder management skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong functional Payroll knowledge with 8+ years multi-state payroll in a complex business environment
  • Deep understanding of wage reporting requirements, taxable income and application of taxes including multi-jurisdictional taxation, expatriate tax knowledge, business travelers and employees on assignment/mobility
  • Proven ability researching, evaluating and implementing regulations/regulation updates
  • Able to work effectively in a self-directed environment, taking initiative and proactively improving processes with alignment from key stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to interpret payroll data, consider the larger picture and share results in a meaningful manner
  • Understanding of HR Processes and HR information systems
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles, ability to understand impact of payroll activity on financial statements/general ledger and support Accounting and Finance inquiries
  • Strong communication skills. Experience and ability presenting at meetings; able to write companywide communications; able to response to employee inquiries at all levels both verbally and in writing
  • Flexible and able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; high sense of urgency and attention to detail and maintaining confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to develop strong working relationships with team, partner departments, stakeholders and vendors
  • Proven experience in project management
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using Workday Payroll

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations for delivery of the bi-monthly, quarterly and annual US payroll, tax filings and W-2s ensuring a high level of controls, statutory compliance and strong relationship with partner departments.
  • Provide cross coverage support for the production of Puerto Rico and expatriate payrolls.
  • Work with team members and partner departments to evaluate the impact of employee mobility on payrolls (domestic and cross boarder) and ensure appropriate payroll reporting.
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring and compliance to state and federal regulations for employees working in multiple states and for domestic and international business travelers.
  • Evaluate and update payroll processes and controls to ensure operational efficiency and compliance. Design and monitor periodic reconciliation and review processes. Develop KPIs and ongoing process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, multi-state and local payroll regulations. Monitor and research changing regulations to evaluate company impact and work with partner departments to implement policy, process and system updates to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Work with the HR system team on Workday updates, releases and system improvements including developing requests, testing plans and post release validation.
  • Manage internal and external audits.
  • Work with external vendor on company registrations, tax notices, and Quarterly/Annual tax reconciliations.
  • Create schedules, calculations, processes and system changes/updates as needed to meet and support partner department requests.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and develop employee communications as needed.
  • Train, coach and develop direct report and support other team members.
