Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is hiring an ALS-U Procurement Manager within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). Reporting to the Procurement Program Manager, this role supports the $590M Department of Energy–funded Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) project at Berkeley Lab. ALS-U will deliver soft x-ray beams over 100 times brighter than those of the existing ALS facility. This position provides strategic leadership across the ALS-U acquisition portfolio—overseeing planning, sourcing, solicitation, evaluation, negotiation, award, and post-award supplier management. The focus is on delivering best-value outcomes, aligning with project schedules, mitigating risk, and ensuring compliance with Laboratory and sponsor requirements. The role partners closely with ALS-U, Project Controls, Engineering, Finance, and Technical Representatives to design and improve acquisition processes, tools, and reporting—ensuring a smooth, predictable procurement flow that supports project success. This individual will lead at the portfolio level, manage two experienced Procurement Specialists, resolve procurement issues as needed, and personally handle high-value, complex acquisitions for the project. We’re here for the same mission, to bring science solutions to the world. Join our team and YOU will play a supporting role in our goal to address global challenges! Have a high level of impact and work for an organization associated with 17 Nobel Prizes!
