About The Position

The Alerts and Warnings Coordinator will be responsible for managing, planning, coordinating, and implementing the North Carolina public alert and warning program. This position will integrate FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) and the Emergency Alert System (EAS) to ensures efficient and equitable access to alerts for all populations, including rural and low-income communities, tribal areas, individuals with access and functional needs, the deaf and hard of hearing, and non-English-speaking populations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of progressively responsible emergency management, emergency services, or other professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.
  • Experience working under pressure for extended periods of time.
  • Experienced in communicating effectively in oral and written form.
  • General knowledge of emergency management principles and services offered by local and State agencies.
  • Expert knowledge of public alert and warning systems and first responder communications technologies.
