About The Position

The Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 UH-60, AH-64, CH-47 (Engine Mechanic Specialty) inspects and performs maintenance on aircraft turbine engines and components according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. Removes, replaces, services, prepares, preserves, cleans and stores engine assembles or components. Disassembles, repairs, reassembles, adjusts, diagnostically tests turbine engine systems, subsystems and components according to directives. Assists in troubleshooting engines and rigging engine controls. Performs limited maintenance operational checks. Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections. Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment. Services and lubricates engines and components. Requisitions bench stock for repair of aircraft engines. Prepares request for turn ins and repair parts and engine components. Prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance. Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance. Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality). Perform additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is Required.
  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired; certification of education level is required.
  • Must have three years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
  • All experience must be within the six (6) most recent years.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
  • Mechanics must provide their own tools/toolbox.
  • Must be able to work any shift assigned under the Union CBA, day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift – As required under Union CBA.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Valid US Passport and be able to travel internationally if requested for TDY assignment (applicable to OCONUS work sites).
  • Security Clearance Requirements Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC- I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is Required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft turbine engines and repair.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
  • Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects
  • Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by an aircraft turbine engine mechanic.
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.
  • Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
  • May be expected to work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid (FAA) A&P certificate is Preferred, not required.
  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired
