About The Position

Kentro is hiring a Business Analyst / Scrum Master to support the Social Security Administration's (SSA) ongoing Agile development initiatives. This role combines Agile project facilitation with business analysis responsibilities to ensure requirements are accurately captured, refined, and prioritized in alignment with SSA's Agile practices. The selected candidate will collaborate with SSA Product Owners, technical teams, and stakeholders to support the continuation and completion of backend database and API development, as well as the creation of a new front-end web application that leverages these services. The individual will help ensure consistent delivery of high-quality Agile artifacts, maintain team cadence, and promote continuous improvement throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 8+ years relevant experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
  • Familiarity with SSA Agile methodology, ceremonies, and processes.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Scrum Master, and Agile Project Coordinator.
  • Hands-on experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and managing Agile backlogs.
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and guiding teams through Agile processes.
  • Proficiency with Agile project management tools (e.g., VersionOne, Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-engagement skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate business needs into actionable tasks.
  • Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM, SAFe, or equivalent).
  • Active or ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a federal Agile environment with structured governance.
  • Experience supporting requirements management for large-scale IT systems.
  • Ability to create presentations and facilitate demos/reviews for federal stakeholders.
  • Current SSA Clearance
  • Experience supporting federal IT programs (SSA experience highly preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to SSA's Agile methodologies, tools, and workflows, including any updates or changes directed by SSA.
  • Facilitate all required Agile ceremonies, including: Product Increment Planning Release Planning Daily Stand-ups Release Retrospectives Release Reviews
  • Maintain Agile discipline across teams by ensuring ceremonies are purposeful, time-boxed, and outcome-oriented.
  • Conduct team assessments and support continuous improvement practices.
  • Ensure that Agile tools (e.g., VersionOne) are always updated and accurately reflect project progress.
  • Ensure SSA-specified development and business processes are followed consistently across all teams.
  • Assist with writing and refining user stories and acceptance criteria in collaboration with SSA, end users, and technical teams.
  • Decompose high-level requirements into actionable tasks consistent with SSA Agile standards.
  • Support accurate story-point estimation and maintain sprint and release backlogs.
  • Facilitate backlog grooming sessions and ensure stories are ready for sprint planning.
  • Notify the Product Owner upon completion of stories and coordinate continuous feedback loops.
  • Maintain an evolving, accurate, and prioritized product backlog.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver all Agile project artifacts in accordance with SSA guidelines and timelines.
  • Provide timely, accurate input into SSA's Agile tool to ensure metrics and reports reflect current progress.
  • Support formal system demos, reviews, and presentation development as required.
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation and reporting to support transparency and stakeholder communication.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align priorities and clarify requirements.
  • Coordinate with SSA stakeholders, Product Owners, end users, and technical SMEs to ensure shared understanding of business needs.
  • Participate in SSA-required meetings and provide administrative or logistical support for project activities.
