About The Position

A loan officer at Longview Bank is a critical member of the banks overall team. This role requires a person that enjoys meeting new people and is excited about building long lasting sound business relationships. A successful loan officer must desire to take ownership of the impact this position can have on the earnings potential of the bank. Effective communication with customers and bank staff is required as is strong leadership and decision-making skills. An Ag Loan Officer makes and services a variety of agricultural loans and provides other customer services as may be required and operates with limited credit authority.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in lending, with a focus on consumer lending, mortgage lending, or small business lending preferred, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of lending products, credit analysis, and underwriting principles, including risk assessment, loan structuring, and pricing strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and colleagues and effectively communicate lending solutions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple loan applications and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in loan origination software, banking systems, and Microsoft products.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Master's degree or professional certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of farm, farm real estate, and related agricultural loans.
  • Participate in the analysis of loan requests.
  • Provide an excellent customer experience, comply with all relevant regulations, and adhere to established credit standards.
  • Work effectively with department staff and management.
  • Properly close and document all loan transactions in accordance with the approved terms and conditions.
  • Maintain a strong, visible, and positive presence through public relations activities in community events and clubs.
  • Serve the needs of the banking customer seeking agricultural loans and lines of credit.
  • Interviews agricultural loan applicants to develop information concerning their businesses, needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine whether a loan is an acceptable risk.
  • Makes decisions on loans and terms if within the bank’s lending limits, or makes recommendations to a superior if not.
  • Follows current loans and lines of credit to ensure conformity with terms and to gain knowledge of developing customer trends as well as monitoring how the credit performs.
  • Study industrial, commercial and financial situations relating to new or existing businesses.
  • Manages delinquency rate within assigned portfolio and conforms to bank’s assigned parameters.
  • Calls on potential or existing customers to develop new business and increase existing business.
  • Responsible for the overseeing the administration of the loans that you have made.
  • Attend meetings as needed/required, prepare accurate reports as requested by management.
  • As an officer of the bank, it is important that you promote and represent the bank in a positive manner while at work and outside of work.
  • Cross sell Bank products and services.
  • Complete all training as required by management.
  • Complies with BSA/AML training and reports any suspicious activity to BSA officer.
  • Complies with all Bank policies and banking regulations.
  • Any and all other duties as might be assigned to you.
