About The Position

Overview: Directs sales management over a retail market; designing, marketing, and implementing strategies to promote business and securities sales for assigned geographic region retail markets. Helps drive key components of sales and personnel development, training, and sales reporting. Assists in attracting and recruiting Financial Advisors for the region. Primary Responsibilities: Manage the Affluent Market sales function for assigned geographic region’s retail markets. Provide direct supervision to the sales team through the coordination of sales initiatives. Serve in a liaison capacity with other Bank departments to ensure consistent development of all sales initiatives. Provide support regarding training and Advisor development, creating a motivating environment and recognizing the success of employees. Monitor and ensure the region completes required regulatory and compliance training. Network within centers of influence such as seminars, community involvement and industry events. Participate in designing, marketing and implementing strategies to promote business and securities/insurance sales. Participate in the management of sales initiatives, event planning, and short- and long- range planning for assigned region. Direct the gathering and preparing of all sales requests following established reporting requirements. Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations. Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years’ experience in a sales environment, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 9 years’ experience in a sales environment
  • FINRA Series 7, 63, and 65/66 Licenses or successful attainment of them within 12 months of job start date
  • Pertinent state Life Insurance license
