About The Position

Grand Valley State University’s Seidman College of Business Economics Department invites applications for an Affiliate Faculty of Instruction or Practice beginning in Fall 2026. Initial appointments are for one year, with potential for one-year renewals for a second year, with potential subsequent three-year renewable appointments, depending on department need. Applicants are expected to have earned a Master’s degree in Economics or a closely related field from an AACSB or equivalently accredited institution by August 2026 and be interested in teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) programs. All teaching interests in Economics will be considered but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Health Economics and Environmental Economics. Salary & Benefits: Minimum starting salary of $65,000; commensurate with experience Comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, life insurance, generous employer retirement contributions, wellness resources, and tuition waiver effective on date of hire. Primary Duties Typical teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year, with a possible three (3) credit reassignment of time to meet AACSB required research and service responsibilities. Effective teaching at potentially both undergraduate and graduate levels. Provide service to the department, college, university, and community commensurate with rank and college accreditation requirements. Engage in research and professional activities commensurate with rank and college accreditation requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Applied Economics, or a Master's in Business Administration with an emphasis in Economics (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness: in-person, hybrid, online.
  • Evidence of potential professional engagement with non-profit or business community.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent candidates in any related field will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Health Economics and Environmental Economics.
