About The Position

Level 4 candidates shall be experienced in the spray application of multiple functional and decorative aerospace primers and topcoats on a variety of substrates and on simple to complex product configurations, (geometries). Experience should extend to the application of spatter finish textures, dry-film lubricants, conductive coatings, intumescents and Teflon finish systems using conventional HVLP equipment in pressure, siphon and gravity fed variants. Additionally, these operators should be familiar with the setup and application of primers using conventional and airless ID equipment for coating the internal surfaces of structural tubing. Level 4 candidates must be adept at hand shooting and stenciling operations and must possess analytical skills for problem solving and trouble shooting. These operators will be expected to maintain terminal equipment in good working order throughout the production cycle. Level 4 candidates will be expected to control wet/dry film coating thicknesses IAW noted prescribed requirements. These individuals will typically be cross qualified in relevant support functions such as racking, turning, and sanding operations as well as equipment maintenance and paint mixing operations. As a condition of assignment, level 4 painter candidates may be expected to process product controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or Export Administration Regulations. As such these candidates may be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, Legal Permanent Residence or protected status as a Non-Citizen National of the U.S.

  • Excellent hand/eye coordination, practical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent vision whether or not corrected including normal color vision.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.
  • Ability to utilize necessary safety equipment such as grade D air hoods/masks, Tyvek suits, neoprene gloves and safety eyewear.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods with limited movement.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and correct basic equipment problems and technical considerations relative to coating defects.
  • Ability to analyze parts/product so as to determine best technique or method for maximizing transfer efficiency of coatings in an effort to minimize waste and to provide for the highest levels of acceptable quality.

  • Reviewing and assimilating work instructions specific to paint type, dimensional tolerance and thickness considerations.
  • Loading, adjustment and light maintenance of conventional HVLP coating equipment in remote pressure, siphon and gravity fed variants.

  • Successful application of multiple solvent and water reducible primers to a wide variety of substrates and all product and part configurations from simple to complex geometry.
