Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Palmdale, CA is seeking a Summer 2026 Intern Aeronautical Engineer for Mechanical Systems. In this role, you will: - Research, define, analyze, develop, design, test, and qualify aircraft subsystems. - Design and test of subsystems and components along with the integration of aircraft electrical, hydraulic, and flight control systems. - Perform requirements definition in coordination with system engineering. - Develop, review, and maintain engineering drawings and models. - Support integration and flight test, production, and sustainment activities. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or related technical major.
  • Coursework in Mechanics (e.g. Statics, Dynamics, etc.)
  • Coursework in CATIA
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

  • Knowledge of General Aircraft
  • Knowledge of Mechanical, Mechanisms, and Actuation Design Highly motivated individual with the ability to learn continuously and the ability to identify multiple avenues to successfully reach team goals.
  • Candidate must work well individually and with team members across multiple organizations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to develop clear technical presentations for customers and suppliers.
  • Microsoft Office Skills - of particular importance: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Project.
