Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Palmdale, CA is seeking a Summer 2026 Intern Aeronautical Engineer for Mechanical Systems. In this role, you will: - Research, define, analyze, develop, design, test, and qualify aircraft subsystems. - Design and test of subsystems and components along with the integration of aircraft electrical, hydraulic, and flight control systems. - Perform requirements definition in coordination with system engineering. - Develop, review, and maintain engineering drawings and models. - Support integration and flight test, production, and sustainment activities. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering. Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or related technical major.
Coursework in Mechanics (e.g. Statics, Dynamics, etc.)
Coursework in CATIA
Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Knowledge of Mechanical, Mechanisms, and Actuation Design Highly motivated individual with the ability to learn continuously and the ability to identify multiple avenues to successfully reach team goals.

Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to develop clear technical presentations for customers and suppliers.
Microsoft Office Skills - of particular importance: Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Project.
