About The Position

The Advocate - Sexual Abuse will provide comprehensive sexual abuse services to clients in the service area that identify or are identified as survivors, which may include Scott, Muscatine, Louisa, Clinton, or Jackson Counties in Iowa. This position will provide advocacy, case management, emotional support, support groups, and safety planning for clients affected by sexual abuse. Primarily, this position will provide support to survivors at medical facilities, within the legal system, or at other locations in the community as appropriate. This position will also collaborate with other community agencies to ensure the needs of survivors of sexual assault are prioritized. This position must be available and capable of participating in the 24-hour on-call rotation for Survivor Services, including day, night, weekend, and holiday coverage between 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m.–8:30 a.m., and full 24-hour rotations on weekends and holidays across all five counties served (Scott, Muscatine, Louisa, Jackson, and Clinton) This position requires reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance. These responsibilities are carried out under the direction of the Supervisor - Braking Traffik & Iowa Sexual Abuse & Domestic Abuse. This position will need to have a flexible schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license in good standing and a vehicle with appropriate auto insurance are required.
  • Must be able to pass the motor vehicle record background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 3 years of related human services field work preferred.

Responsibilities
