As a Financial Solutions Advisor within the centralized segment of the Advisor Development Program, your journey begins by obtaining Securities Industry licenses (SIE, Series 7, and Series 66) through dedicated classes. Once licensed, you will be taught foundational advisor skills, including acquiring, building, and managing client relationships, understanding complex financial pictures, and guiding clients with advice and solutions. Financial Solutions Advisors in the centralized segment are phone-based licensed advisors who provide holistic financial advice and guidance, identifying product and service solutions for investment, savings, and liability management. They demonstrate knowledge of investments and financial markets, applying key principles to individual client needs and aligning Merrill and Bank of America products. The program provides necessary training and guidance to progress into a Merrill Financial Advisor role, offering opportunities to work with affluent and high net worth clients, identify needs, develop relationships, review investment goals, and prepare investment recommendations. Successful FSAs typically advance to a Merrill Financial Solutions Advisor (MFSA) role, with the Academy providing dedicated programs, tools, and resources throughout the career journey. Requirements

  • Obtain your Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) within 60 days of being hired.
  • Obtain your Series 7 & Series 66 licenses within 120 Days of being hired (63 & 65 accepted, in lieu of 66).
  • Display confidence working in a sales role.
  • Build strong client relationships through effective communication and collaboration.
  • Display a proactive mindset and effective time management.
  • Demonstrate a results-driven mindset and prioritize client interests.
  • Identify appropriate client solutions through application of learnings and new information.
  • Apply relevant regulatory due diligence in daily activities and creating long-term client strategies.
  • Register with the federal registry system and remain in good standing, as this position is subject to SAFE Act registration requirements for residential loan mortgage originations.
  • Submit to the required SAFE Act background check and registration process.

  • Work with both affluent and high net worth clients, identifying needs, developing relationships, reviewing investment goals, and preparing investment recommendations.
  • Use a defined consultative approach with clients to systematically identify client needs and appropriate solutions.
  • Provide end-to-end comprehensive advice and deliver client reviews/presentations with confidence.
  • Recommend strategies to help clients achieve their financial goals and life priorities.
  • Collaborate with core banking and investment partners to connect clients to all solutions provided through Bank of America and Merrill.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients by providing exceptional client care with industry leading products, services, and education.
  • Apply relevant regulatory due diligence in daily activities and creating long-term client strategies.
