About The Position

Blackberry is looking for full-time seasonal adventure guides to lead guests to variable experiences in various outdoor activities. We seek, in particular, candidates strong in hiking, paddling, archery, and/or naturalist skills such as birding, stream ecology, orienteering, and experience guiding such activities. Employment is based on a 32-40 hour workweek as seasons dictate, consists of mostly day shifts, and requires some weekends and occasional holidays. Blackberry Farm and Blackberry Mountain, Relais & Châteaux properties located in the Great Smoky Mountains, continue the traditions of unparalleled hospitality and luxury that have always been the hallmark of the Blackberry brand. Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must have excellent communication skills, in order to interconnect with guests, team members, and managers effectively and professionally
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of math
  • Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals
  • Must be able to assess current, probable, and possible conditions to provide a safe and quality experience
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to be on feet most or all of the shift
  • Must be able to operate a company vehicle or golf cart safely
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • 4,200 acres of Blackberry Farm property, 5,500 acres of Blackberry Mountain property, and surrounding areas including the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Chilhowee, and Tellico Lakes

Nice To Haves

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred
  • High school diploma or GED and some college preferred

Responsibilities

  • Must know the region, specifically in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and the Park itself
  • Previous guiding experience is desired to evaluate guests and their needs safely and to deliver quality
  • Must be willing to collaborate on various outdoor project work such as trail clean-up and equipment maintenance
  • Must be able to work with a team or small group, and be competent in planning, organizing, and facilitating a trip
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Must be able to work well with other Team Members, Managers, and interact with our guests.
