About The Position

Cleveland Institute of Art, one of the nation’s leading independent colleges of art and design, is seeking an Advancement Associate. This position is responsible for handling many of the day-to-day functions involved in managing the department’s various lines of contributed income, digital engagement, public messaging, as well as supporting a comprehensive stewardship program. This position supports CIA’s mission by securing funding, enhancing visibility, and strengthening relationships with donors, elected officials, and the broader community, and offers the employee an opportunity to obtain broad exposure to many facets of fundraising and development.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge of fund-raising techniques, including personal solicitation, mail and phone solicitations.
  • Requires database usage skills.
  • Requires knowledge of event management.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to think creatively and attend to the various details involved in fundraising events and volunteer management.
  • Requires the ability to juggle numerous projects at the same time.
  • This position requires strong attention to detail, effective multitasking, organization and project management skills, an ability to work in a team atmosphere and manage a flexible schedule.
  • Due to the nature of this work, this position requires the ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
  • The above knowledge and skills are normally acquired through an undergraduate degree and a minimum of two years of experience in a development office in an educational institution or other nonprofit organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge preferred but not required.
  • Skill in web content management systems desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall administrative support to the Institutional Advancement team, including: entering data into constituency information database on a timely basis for prospect tracking purposes including moves management system; researching prospects; organizing and monitoring cultivation and solicitation assignments and follow-up; scheduling meetings, preparing talking points, assembling presentations, and participating in meeting preparations.
  • Initiates and generates gift tracking reports and donor analysis as requested.
  • Provides constituent information in the form of lists, mailing labels, etc.
  • Assists with the planning and execution for the implementation of programs and events directed at all constituent groups.
  • Maintaining master campaign calendar to maximize cultivation events.
  • Serve as a back-up for entering gifts, drafting of acknowledgement letters and ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
