About The Position

The Advanced Workforce Center Specialist is responsible for supporting and supervising the daily operations of the University of Missouri-St. Louis Advanced Workforce Center (AWC), including the Testing Center. This role requires the ability to work independently, troubleshoot basic technology issues, and manage multiple operational details with accuracy. Responsibilities include administering institutional, state, and national exams through the Testing Center as well as providing support for workforce development programs and services offered by the AWC to campus, corporate, and community stakeholders. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position that requires some evening and weekend availability.

Requirements

  • An Associate's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and some experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to higher education or information technology.
  • Two (2) years experience in a higher education setting in student services, academic support, or business office.
  • Proficiency in general office technology such as Microsoft Office, an ability to adapt to changes in technology, and an ability to quickly troubleshoot computer issues that may arise during scheduled test administrations.
  • Excellent English communication skills and prodigious attention to detail.
  • A record of being punctual and regular attendance for work.

Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with all of the exam types and rules by which the exams are administered in the Testing Center including regulated exams such as ACT, Pearson VUE, CLEP, MoGEA, MFT, and more.
  • Administer and proctor exams for campus and community stakeholders according to institutional and/or test sponsor policy and provide general support for other AWC programs and services.
  • Supervise testing activity and respond to all irregularities in a timely and professional manner.
  • File exams, program records, and other sensitive documentation with precision and care.
  • Serve as an office contact point and maintain a positive relationship with students, faculty, employer partners, and other campus and community clients and stakeholders.
  • Answer phone, in-person, email and other digital inquiries from campus, employer, and community stakeholders about both testing and AWC services.
  • Assist the Testing Center Coordinator and AWC leadership with managing electronic schedules for all assessment and workforce functions.
  • Serve as chief test center administrator or backup administrator for professional testing events.
  • Perform regular technology and equipment checks and serve as a liaison with Information Technology Services for AWC needs.
  • Ensure the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality regarding test takers' and workforce participants' personal information.
  • Use judgment to quickly identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day procedural, technical, and/or operational problems that arise during scheduled exams and workforce activities.
  • Contribute to an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with clients of various backgrounds.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Testing Center Coordinator and Advanced Workforce Center Program Manager.
