Riverside Health System is seeking an experienced full time Advanced Practice Provider to join our Cardiology team at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. This role is a true inpatient and outpatient hybrid, supporting comprehensive cardiovascular care across the hospital and clinic settings. The APP will work closely with a collaborative group of cardiologists to manage consults, rounding, stress testing, and outpatient cardiology visits. Inpatient Responsibilities Perform cardiology consults for hospitalized patients. Round independently and collaboratively on cardiology inpatients. Supervise and manage cardiac stress testing, including exercise and pharmacologic studies, in accordance with protocols. Interpret and act on clinical data such as EKGs, labs, imaging, and stress test results, in collaboration with supervising physicians. Coordinate care with nursing, case management, and other consulting services. Participate in discharge planning and post-hospital follow-up coordination. Document all inpatient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Outpatient Responsibilities Evaluate and manage new and established cardiology patients in the clinic setting. Diagnose and treat a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including but not limited to coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension, and valvular disease. Order, review, and interpret diagnostic studies including labs, EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, and ambulatory monitoring. Develop and manage treatment plans in collaboration with supervising cardiologists. Prescribe medications and adjust therapy as clinically appropriate. Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and disease management. Ensure thorough and compliant documentation for all outpatient encounters. General Responsibilities Work collaboratively with cardiologists, APPs, nurses, and support staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Practice at the top of license in alignment with Riverside Health System policies and scope of practice. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and standardization of cardiology workflows.

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner- Masters in Nursing
  • Nurse Practitioner License
  • Nurse Practitioner certification
  • For Hospital rounding roles: Nurse Practitioner certification- FNP must have a subspecialties in Cardiology
  • Physician Assistant - Master Degree
  • Physician Assistant License Required
  • Meet comprehensive and professional standards
  • Have a current, valid state of Virginia medical license or be eligible for one
  • Have a valid DEA controlled substance registration
