Sentara Medical Group is seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our outpatient team in South Boston, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for a provider who values a collaborative, patient-centered approach and wants to make a meaningful impact on individuals struggling with behavioral health challenges. Position Details: Location: South Boston, VA Patient Volume: Approximately 35–40 patients per week Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | No on-call requirements Patient Population: Substance and alcohol use disorders, Depression and anxiety, Grief and loss, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, PMDD, Schizophrenia, etc. Team Composition: 2 Physicians 1 Licensed Professional Counselor 2 Support Staff Key Responsibilities: Conduct outpatient behavioral health visits and follow-ups Prescribe and manage medications as appropriate Provide counseling and therapy when indicated Collaborate closely with physicians on patient care Monitor and track patient progress, ensuring individualized, effective treatment plans Ideal Candidate: Minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral health Proven ability to provide both medication management and counseling Experience in evaluating and determining the most effective treatment approach for patients, whether through medication, therapy, or a combination of both Strong communication and collaboration skills Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care Why Join Sentara?
