About The Position

The Neuroendovascular Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays an essential role in delivering comprehensive care to patients with acute neuroendovascular conditions, including ischemic stroke, cerebral aneurysms, and arteriovenous malformations at Tampa General Hospital. The APP will work both autonomously and collaboratively with the Neuroendovascular Surgery team, providing care both pre and post procedure in alignment with their established scope of practice. As part of the Tampa General Hospital (TGH) team, the APP will uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization in all facets of patient care.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP or AGACNP) board certification required for APRNs. National certification required for Physician Assistants.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required. Strong clinical skills in neurologic assessment and acute stroke care.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise utilizing evidence-based practice, infection control standards and clinical evaluations in providing care to clients in hospital-based settings, as evidenced by following established protocols.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and EMR systems, preferably Epic.
  • Strong teamwork and conflict resolution skills, with a patient-centered approach.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience in neurocritical care, interventional radiology, or stroke neurology.

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient Rounding: Conduct follow-up rounds on elective patients admitted post-procedure under the Neuroendovascular service, including those in the ICU, stepdown, and floor units.
  • Procedural Support: Assist in the coordination of endovascular procedures and provide pre- and post-procedure care for inpatient consults.
  • Documentation: Accurately document histories, physical exams, progress notes, medical orders, and procedural updates in the electronic medical record.
  • Emergency Response: Support rapid clinical assessment and triage of patients with emergent neurovascular conditions and neurological changes pre and post procedure.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with neurologists, neurosurgeons, interventional radiologists, nursing, USF administrative staff and case management for comprehensive care delivery.
  • Transitions of Care: Facilitate safe and effective discharges and transfers, including outpatient follow-up planning.
  • Education & Mentorship: Provide education to patients, families, and medical trainees regarding neurovascular disease processes and treatments.
