About The Position

Richland Library is seeking to hire a Full-Time Adult Services Manager at our Main location . Sample Duties: Key Responsibilities Effectively demonstrates characteristics of being enthusiastic, outgoing, and strongly customer-service oriented, including the application of the Richland Library’s customer engagement standards. Greets customers & successfully ascertains individualized needs and/or requirements for each customer. Engages, encourages, and assists diverse customers in all areas of the Library in a welcoming, professional, and respectful manner. Strengthen library branch support system-wide in order to broaden the reach and impact of the Events and Experience department. Manage and coordinate contracts, act as main point of contact for authors, performing artists and vendors for adult programs and events. Works with Events and Experience Department, Directors of Library Experience, Branch and Main programming librarians in planning, budgeting, developing, coordinating, implementing, and supporting system-wide programs and initiatives. Delivers presentations, demonstrations and reports to the public, library staff and organizational partners. Acts as Subject Matter Expert and works with Learning Engagement to coordinate system-wide training and learning opportunities that support strong programs and services to adults. Coordinates with community partners to provide diverse adult programming reflecting our community. Develop, maintain and support local and regional partnerships that align with the library’s mission while supporting formal and informal relationships for enhancing library programs and services; identifies partnership opportunities that can extend the efforts of both the Library and other community organizations and agencies. Develops relationships with internal departments of the Library and externally with local/regional organizations and businesses with responsibilities for programming and events for the public. Communicates and coordinates programming tools, best practices and information system-wide. Evaluates programs and partnerships using effective methods, and uses results to improve and expand the impact of Library programs and initiatives. Supports and encourages a system-wide approach to programs by following current trends, consistency in naming/description conventions, diversity of offerings and presenters. Assesses current program efforts, leads, creates, and implements new program formats. Leads the Adult Programming Committee, and facilitates and supports other committees, teams, and collaborations serving adult programmatic efforts. Participate in promotional opportunities for Library events and initiatives which may include television, radio and others interviews. Assists with preparation and review of budget requests, manage the department’s adult programming budget as well as Read Freely Fest budget, totaling over $250,000.00. Researches information to support new projects, grant programs and inter-departmental efforts. Creates opportunities to obtain community feedback to strengthen, re-imagine or craft programs and activities that support customer curiosity, trends and best practices. Works with appropriate staff to seek and/or administer special outside grants for system-wide programs and initiatives. Crafts and implements effective, efficient strategies for collecting program information, for promotional purposes. Coordinates with Director of Collection Development and Content Strategists to market the Library’s collections and resources aligning with programmatic efforts. Serves as a member of the Library Management Team. Other Important Responsibilities Collaborates system-wide with all locations and departments to create cohesive programs for adults. Monitors and encourages goal setting and statistical accuracy in programmatic efforts. Supports, encourages, and coaches other staff members to create exceptional experiences. Stays current with public library news and trends, especially those related to programming and partnerships. Represents the Library through professional networks and at local, regional and national venues; seeks ways to promote the initiatives and outstanding work of the Library. Serves on or supports project teams as needed. Performs other duties as required or assigned to support the Library’s strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a highly relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of documented relevant work experience, including work that would demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities (1. staff and/or project supervisor experience; and 2. experience supporting programs to adults, coordinating and implementing programs and large-scale initiatives in a multi-branch library system 3. experience with budgets exceeding $100,000.00)
  • Transcripts must be presented upon hire.
  • Valid driver’s license with safe driving record; ability to report to work at various branches as needed.
