About The Position

This position is located in Newton. The employee in this position shall work morning hours on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday, 12-15 hours total per week. RESPONSIBILITIES : Essential Functions – Provides instruction, evaluation, and follow-up in the areas of Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency and/or English Language Acquisition (ELA/ESL). Instructs adult students using the approved curriculum, with an expectation of meeting or exceeding program goals. Work with Adult Education Coordinator in implementing curriculum and documenting student progress. This will include evaluation of materials and teaching methods. Submit appropriate paperwork to Adult Education Coordinator for quarterly reports and meet deadlines in a timely manner. Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, faculty and other HutchCC stakeholders. Attend staff development activities as assigned. Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures. Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully perform the responsibilities of the position. Secondary – Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Adult Education Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree required.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.
  • Physical requirements include: excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.
