About The Position

Assist the Adult Education Director with various areas of program management, student outcomes, curriculum and instruction, community engagement, and school district liaising.

Requirements

  • Requires a Master’s degree or education administration experience supplemented by two to three years of related classroom experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Requires work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 50 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
  • Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether like or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.
  • Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisor.

  • Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate stress when confronted with an emergency or tight deadline. The worker is subject to tension as a regular, consistent part of the job.
  • Requires the ability to talk and hear: (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to hear and understand communications through a telephone.
  • Has thorough knowledge of the methods, policies and procedures of Spartanburg School District Seven pertaining to specific duties of the Adult Education Instructor/Program Coordinator.
  • Is knowledgeable in the standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with district high schools to provide seamless transitions. for students in need of additional time to complete secondary credential requirements after leaving high school to include meetings with students and parents at high schools to inform about diploma and GED options, evaluating transcripts, and assisting with transition.
  • Assist with implementation of student recruitment strategies to increase diploma and GED enrollment, particularly for persons aged 17-24.
  • Oversee the Diploma program to ensure compliance with proctoring and tracking of student progression through courses.
  • Provide curriculum and instructional support to both GED and Diploma instructors
  • Promote the adult education program in the community through the distribution of public service announcements, serving on community boards and committees, and distributing publicity materials.
  • Monitor and review LACES data, specifically in regard to post test and WIN certificate data. Analyze and make recommendations to the director regarding ways to positively impact data.
  • Serve as the Special Education liaison with the Spartanburg County school districts. Facilitate student applications for GED exam accommodations.
  • Serve as first point of contact for teacher absences, student orientation, student discipline, Workers Comp claims, and school safety committee.
  • Complete and submit relevant reports to the program director as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
