Adult Education - Adult Basic Education (GED) and High School Equivalency Instructor
About The Position
Anticipated Vacancy Adult Education Instructor - Part Time Adult Basic Education (GED) and High School Equivalency Instructor Looking for enthusiastic and nurturing instructors for adults returning to the classroom with the goal of obtaining a New York High School Equivalency Diploma (GED). Job duties include creating individualized lesson plans, public outreach, student communication, progress and attendance tracking, and assessment administration. Classes run 3 hours a day, 2-4 days a week, for a total of 6-9 hours weekly. Potential classroom instructors must be able to commit to a set weekly schedule, although applicants for substitute teachers on an as-needed basis are welcome! Classes are open entry and in person. Students are 18 and older.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree K-12 Permanent Certification preferred.
- If no teaching certification, must be eligible and willing to apply for NY Adult Education Certification within 6 months of start date.
- The ideal candidate will have experience working with adults of varied socioeconomic, cultural, educational, and/or differently-abled backgrounds, particularly in an educational setting.
- Must be confident teaching high school math and language skills.
Nice To Haves
