About The Position

The Office of Admissions is responsible for determining student eligibility for admission to the University, processes and evaluates applications and transcripts, determining residency status, and reviewing appeals for exception to University Policy. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Admissions Evaluator (Evaluator I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. The Admissions Evaluator is a member of a team which evaluates academic records for the purpose of determining freshman, transfer, and post baccalaureate admissibility to the university. Assesses student admissibility based on university and campus criteria for admission. Utilizes OnBase and other systems to process information. Adds units to CMS (PeopleSoft) and verifies units in the Degree Audit System (uAchieve) if transfer student is admissible. Evaluates supplemental undergraduate records to determine progress towards final verification of meeting the requirements of baccalaureate degree. Explains university policies and procedures throughout the evaluation process by telephone, email, or in-person. The Admissions Evaluator must maintain working knowledge of and compliance with relevant National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and conference rules and report any concerns or violations noted. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation or one year of academic records evaluation experience or any 12-month combination of training and experience related to academic records evaluation
  • Knowledge of the format and interpretation of course records and transcripts of institutions of higher education
  • Knowledge of authenticating course credits and comparing records of differing formats, such as foreign records
  • Knowledge of campus curriculum requirements for majors, minors, terminal degrees, and special program designations
  • Knowledge of the application of campus resource guidelines for making determinations using various criteria
  • Ability to be thorough, consistent, and accurate in the interpretation of records against criteria
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret complex regulations or requirements and to apply them in the evaluation process
  • Ability to maintain resources which document and update criteria
  • Ability to explain criteria and evaluations to others
  • Ability to make accurate records
  • Ability to organize work to meet deadlines
  • Ability to safeguard confidentiality and security of records
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment
  • A valid California driver’s license
