Position Summary The Admission Counselor at the Graduate School of Social Work reports directly to the Assistant Director of Enrollment and will have first-level enrollment duties and responsibilities for all GSSW programs. The main purpose of this position is to support the recruitment and admissions efforts for the GSSW programs and be responsible for engaging with prospective students who inquire about our programs, providing them with valuable information, and guiding them through the admissions process. As an integral part of our admissions team, the Admissions Counselor will play a vital role in representing our institution and ensuring that each students journey begins on a positive note. The Admission Counselor will respond to prospective student queries via email and phone to build and support strong relationships with prospective students. They will serve as the primary host for virtual information sessions, Saturday events, and will travel in-state to represent GSSW at college fairs and recruitment activities. This role will work primarily in Slate to support admissions application workflow processes, manage student records, create and send email communications, and support reporting needs in Slate. The Admission Counselor will also support application review and participate in the admissions decision-making process.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of experience working in an office

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and Support for Prospective Students Respond to inquiries from prospective students via phone, email, and other communication channels, offering detailed information about the GSSW programs, admission requirements, and campus life.
  • Initiate outbound phone calls to students who have shown interest in GSSW, effectively communicating the benefits a social work program and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Build rapport with prospective students to understand their educational goals, career aspirations, and unique needs, providing personalized guidance and support throughout the inquiry, application, and enrollment process.
  • Assist students in completing application forms, gathering required documentation, and navigating the admissions procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient application experience.
  • Maintain accurate records of all interactions with prospective students, documenting their inquiries, preferences, and progress in our CRM system.
  • Actively contribute to developing and implementing new methods of outreach and engagement with prospective students.
  • Co-lead bi-weekly online information sessions, including technical setup, attendee management, and follow-up support as needed.
  • Assist and/or lead weekly Friday campus tours, providing engaging and informative experiences for prospective students and guests.
  • Support monthly in-person information sessions when required, including event setup, registration, and attendee assistance.
  • Provide logistical and operational support for all online and in-person enrollment team events, ensuring smooth execution and positive attendee experience.
  • Support research and data gathering projects related to recruitment and admissions, such as gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information about competitor programs.
  • Understand and adhere to admissions guidelines.
  • Participate in and aid with special projects related to recruitment and admissions.
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to develop and implement strategies for student recruitment and retention, contributing to the overall success of the admissions process.
  • Stay informed about the institutions academic offerings, financial aid options, and admission policies, continuously updating knowledge to provide up-to-date and relevant information to prospective students.
  • Participate in admissions events, representing the institution and actively engaging with prospective students and their families.
  • Collect data from applicants, including ensuring that the appropriate information is entered into Slate, and that information and follow-up correspondence is sent.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines in the recruitment and admissions process.
  • Travel to in-state college fairs, recruitment events, and community outreach programs to represent GSSW, promote academic offerings, and build relationships with prospective students and partners.
  • Application Review & Admissions Evaluation Serve as a first reader for Denver Campus and Online MSW applications, conducting thorough reviews of applicant materials, assessing qualifications against admissions criteria, and providing recommendations to support timely and informed admission decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
