About The Position

The Admission Counselor/Recruiter serves under the leadership of the Director of Admissions and is responsible for representing Claflin University at recruitment fairs and college day/night programs. Disseminates admissions materials and information to prospective students, parents, high school counselors, churches, alumni, community colleges, and other civic organizations both in-state and out-of-state, at local and national fairs. Makes decisions on admission of high school applicants; serves as the liaison between students and high school counselors; processes freshman applications, re-admits applicants, international and transfer students; coordinates interviews and counseling sessions with prospective students and their parents; assists with registration; and conducts campus tours. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • At least one year of experience working as an officer in admissions, in an admissions office at a post-secondary institution of higher learning; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with people from various social, educational, and economic backgrounds
  • Must be able to work without constant supervision, make sound decisions and have a good moral judgment
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and projects and prioritize based on departmental functionality
  • Must have a prominent level of professional appearance and demeanor and can maintain confidentiality
  • Candidate must be able to establish priorities, work independently and utilize problem solving skills
  • The successful candidate must have excellent presentations skills
