About The Position

The Administrative Specialist for the Nebraska Commission on African American Affairs is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Commission's office and providing specialized program support. This position oversees administrative processes, coordinates workflow, and ensures compliance with agency policies. Duties include planning and organizing office activities, conducting research and data analysis to support program evaluation, preparing reports and recommendations, and serving as a liaison with internal staff, external partners, and community stakeholders. The role requires independent judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to interpret and apply policies to resolve operational issues and improve efficiency.

Requirements

  • At least one year of post high school coursework or experience in: administration, office management, accounting, finance, planning, policy analysis and implementation, administrative/management analysis, operations research, program evaluation, research, or similar fields or in a field related to the programs or functions of the employing agency.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and data analysis to support program planning and evaluation.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Interpret and apply agency policies and procedures; evaluate and recommend modifications to improve efficiency and compliance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal staff, external partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent the Commission at meetings and events as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives to advance the Commission’s mission.
  • All other duties assigned within the scope of the classification.
