About The Position

This position is located in Raleigh, NC and is a part of the Division of Services for the Blind statewide administration offices located on the Governor Morehead School Campus. The position serves as the Division’s Blind Registrar for the state-mandated Blind Register. This position reviews eye reports, codes for eligibility and keys eligible individuals in the case management system. The Blind Registrar solicits assistance with interpreting eye reports from the Low Vision Program Specialist and/or Consulting Ophthalmologist as needed. The individual in this position must be very organized and consistently maintain files including purging paper records and updating case management records. The Blind Registrar receives records for all 100 NC counties. Records may be received from Social Workers for the Blind, Nursing Eye Care Consultants, Rehabilitation Counselors, other Division staff, external agencies, and eye care providers. They work as part of a team to provide director's office coverage by greeting visitors, provides phone coverage and assistance for the Chief of ILS/MEC and upper management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to accurately record numbers and text.
  • Ability to interpret medical information for accurate categorization.
