Department of Revenue is recruiting for a Taxpayer Services - Administrative Specialist 1 position. We are looking for talented, detail-oriented individuals to join our Salem Field Office Division in the Program Services Unit. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; and is an in-office position Monday to Friday. In order to be considered for Department of Revenue recruitments, you must reside within the state of Oregon. Current Revenue employees who live outside of Oregon may apply and will be considered. If you possess language skills in Spanish, you are encouraged to apply!! We offer bilingual differential pay, which is an extra 5% of the employee’s base pay and is contingent on passing the required language test. Please note, bilingual language skills are encouraged but not required for this position.

Requirements

  • Two years of secretarial or basic administrative support experience that includes records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR
  • An associate degree in general office occupations and one year of experience with records processing, generating documents, and gathering and sorting data; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt and courteous assistance to the taxpayers or their representatives by receiving and processing all taxpayer payments via cash, check or credit card.
  • Provide assistance to the public and other employees face to face at the Department of Revenue’s Payment Center desk on the various revenue streams administered by the department.
  • Answer questions and advises public on rules, laws, policies and procedures for the department.
  • Explains billings, sends financial statements, processes payments, comments in system as to action taken on accounts.
  • Research tax records and interpret data relating to individual circumstances.
  • Handles large volumes of taxpayer paperwork, review for accuracy, then routes to the correct department for further processing.
