About The Position

THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 1 YEAR. The SOM Clinical Research Alliance is engaged in the management of the AIDS Clinical Trial Group to Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally for HIV/AIDS and Other Infections (ACTG), a cooperative group funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and other collaborating NIH Institutes and Centers, as well as industry partners. The ACTG is an international, multicenter clinical trials network to advance therapeutics in HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and viral hepatitis. This operation requires coordination of a research and clinical trials infrastructure that includes the fields of virology, immunology, pharmacology, mycobacteriology, specimen banking, clinical trials design, clinical trials data management, and new drug and laboratory testing regulatory affairs. Additionally, as the direction of NIAID, the Network responds to emergent clinical research needs. The Administrative Project Coordinator at the SOM Clinical Research Alliance supports the ACTG Network by providing administrative support and ensuring compliance with policies. The role requires excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Key responsibilities include fulfilling daily administrative tasks in support of the ACTG Executive Director and Financial Manager, including calendaring, mass email communications, meeting material preparation, office supply management, and action item tracking. In addition, the Administrative Project Coordinator will manage and monitor travel via Concur, assist with meeting logistics and coordinating domestic and international meeting preparation and travel for ACTG members (eg booking travel, coordinating meetings, processing reimbursements), reconcile travel expense reports, and collaborate closely with the Executive Assistant and Executive Director to ensure the smooth execution of in person and virtual ACTG Network meetings. This position also involves tracking and analyzing financial and productivity data, setting up databases, and assisting with special projects as needed. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion is crucial for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an academic medical center or university preferred
  • Working knowledge of UNC Systems
  • Knowledge of NIH Grants Policy Statement; Federal travel regulation.
