The University of New Mexico’s Human Resources Division is seeking a highly organized, service-oriented Administrative Officer to support divisional operations and provide hands-on administrative leadership within the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources. This position plays a key role in ensuring the effective day-to-day functioning of the HR Division by supervising administrative staff, coordinating administrative and project support, and directly providing executive and operational assistance. The Administrative Officer works independently under broad direction and partners closely with HR leadership to support divisional priorities, initiatives, and engagement activities. The Administrative Officer provides hands-on administrative leadership for the Human Resources Division, ensuring that the Vice President’s Office and divisional administrative functions operate effectively, consistently, and in alignment with established priorities. This position is responsible for the direct supervision and daily coordination of office staff, setting clear expectations, assigning and monitoring work, and providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure high-quality service. The Administrative Officer develops and maintains standard operating procedures, balances workloads, and addresses operational issues as they arise, while also performing direct administrative and executive support for the office. Working independently under broad direction, the Administrative Officer coordinates administrative support for division-wide projects and initiatives. This includes organizing information, tracking timelines, preparing materials, and supporting follow-through on action items to assist HR leadership. The role requires sound judgment and discretion, as it routinely handles sensitive information and determines appropriate next steps within established policies and practices. The Administrative Officer also leads the planning and coordination of divisional meetings, events, and engagement activities, managing logistics, materials, communications, and documentation. In addition, the position serves as a key administrative liaison, supporting divisional communications, personnel processes, records management, and coordination with campus partners to meet operational needs. This is a working supervisory role that combines day-to-day administrative execution with responsibility for supervising staff, coordinating workflows, and supporting divisional operations under broad guidance.
