About The Position

AZDES Office of Inspector General is seeking an experienced Administrative Law Judge (Specialist) to conduct administrative hearings related to social services programs. This is a contract-to-hire, fully remote role with long-term potential.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) Degree – Mandatory
• ⚠️ Candidates without a JD degree will be automatically rejected
• Strong legal research and decision-writing skills

Nice To Haves

• Experience conducting administrative hearings, especially within social services or public sector environments

Responsibilities

• Conduct administrative hearings (in person or telephonic)
• Ask questions, manage the hearing process, and maintain official records
• Make evidentiary rulings and control the course of hearings
• Perform legal research and issue legally sound decisions
• Provide guidance to parties regarding hearing procedures
• Investigate and respond to customer complaints
• Follow up to ensure hearing decisions are properly implemented
