About The Position

The Computational Neuropsychology & Simulation (CNS) Laboratory is seeking an Admin Associate, Research to join its team and support the CNS Lab in managing its day-to-day contracts and grants administrative operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Must be able to enter information and proof the information prior to the deadline to ensure data accuracy before any transmittals to leadership or external sources.
  • Must be able to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records and generate reports.
  • Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), strong financial and accounting acumen, the ability to follow through with assigned tasks within established time frames and minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, and exceptional focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be skilled in using the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), other internet applications (task management, search engines, online portals), and similar software.
  • Broad knowledge of relevant research computer software (e.g., Microsoft Access, Outlook, SPSS, Visio, SunGard, Trello, Discord).
  • Competency in project management.
  • Applicant must ensure confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information, including but not limited to student, staff, or faculty files.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business (Accounting/Finance preferred).
  • Educational administrative experience.
  • Directly related contracts/grants administration experience.
  • Knowledge of procurement needs, including sole-sourcing, cost analyses, vendor requirements, and small business reporting.
  • Ability to review a proposal or manage a project with an understanding of the overall scope and goal of each sponsored project.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Participates with principal investigator in the preparation of the administrative components of proposals within parameters of sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines.
  • Develops and communicates reports supporting project status.
  • Effectively communicates with the CNS Lab Team relaying information that may require their follow up or input ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Prioritizes workload to meet pre-determined deadlines, determine urgency of workload and forward completed product to the appropriate level intra or interdepartmentally.
  • Customer Service - Responds to requests for data from multiple areas by communicating to the next level for approval.
  • Attends staff/committee meetings as assigned.
  • Prepares CNS Lab leadership with data for review prior to meeting and with any necessary follow up after the meetings.
  • Must be able to enter information and proof the information prior to the deadline to ensure data accuracy before any transmittals to leadership or external sources.
  • Provides training to other staff members as requested.
  • Provides regular updates to CNS Lab leadership throughout the duration of projects to ensure deadlines will be met and any issues are identified.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in entering information into the Computer systems.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Understands, applies, and advises on university and government policies for projects.
  • Serves as a resource on subject area and overall technical resource to principal investigator and other university staff.
  • Participates in and contributes to process improvements.
  • Participates as a mentor and provides cross-training, as necessary.
  • Experience in creating and analyzing statistical reports.

  • Ability to lift and transport heavy objects/items up to 10 pounds (sedentary).
  • Use critical thinking to make decisions and/or analyze and report data.
  • Deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Initiate confidential correspondence on behalf of the project.
  • Supervise Staff and/or students.
  • Work both independently and within a complex structured team.
  • Use office equipment.
