About The Position

The Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College is seeking a highly organized and proactive Administrative Assistant to oversee daily office operations and provide high-level support to the Dean and the Director of Recruitment and Retention. The ideal candidate will serve as a central point of contact for students, faculty, and external partners, ensuring the administrative functions of the Conservatory run seamlessly. Founded in 1833, Stephens College is the second-oldest women's college in the United States, dedicated to providing innovative, experiential, and career-focused education across various disciplines. Located in Columbia, Missouri, Stephens College continues to be a leader in women's education, fostering a community where students are empowered to lead, innovate, and excel. The college also provides flexible, co-educational master’s degrees and certificates for working professionals, and is home to the co-educational Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years in an administrative role or a comparable professional environment.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Canva.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and group communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage high-touch customer service interactions with a professional demeanor and detail-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a diverse and inclusive environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the Dean and Director of Recruitment, including managing routine correspondence, preparing programs, and drafting memorandums.
  • Coordinate daily office functions, manage departmental purchasing for classroom and office supplies, and oversee student work-study staff.
  • Manage travel logistics for recruitment events and the Dean’s office.
  • Play a lead role in coordinating major events, including Preview Days and Accepted Student Days.
  • Initiate and track IT and Facilities work orders to ensure an optimal environment for students and staff.
  • Manage other specialized administrative projects and duties as assigned to support the Conservatory’s mission.
