About The Position

The Performing Arts Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating high-quality performing arts programming for youth. This role oversees curriculum development, staff and instructor support, student engagement, and community arts partnerships. The Performing Arts Coordinator ensures safe, inclusive learning environments while advancing organizational mission and artistic excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts, Music, Art Education, Arts Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in arts education, youth development, or performing arts programming.
  • Experience supporting or managing teaching artists, arts instructors, or part-time staff.
  • Strong understanding of performing arts mediums.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations including youth, families, partners, and staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and adaptability to new technologies.
  • Ability to earn and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership ability to support and deepen student learning and instruction.
  • Flawless ethics and integrity.
  • Safety oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale.
  • Ensures a healthy and safe environment with high-quality performing arts programs that allow self-expression.
  • Plans and coordinates all performing arts related activities/projects on an organizational scale.
  • Plans and designs learning activities to promote Club program staff development in performing arts related fields.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to Club program staff on educational and instructional methodology related to the implementation of performing arts-based curriculum.
  • Organizes a Club-wide theater performance and musical showcase each year.
  • Creates a dynamic, positive work environment for staff members.
  • Maintains close daily contact with indirect reports.
  • Provides coaching, training opportunities, redirection, and encouragement; helps develop skill set necessary for internal promotion.
  • Implements and ensures adherence to BGCS’s policies and procedures.
  • Provides sound judgement and decision-making.
  • Acts quickly in emergency situations.
  • Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
  • Identifies and utilizes best practices for conducting performing arts programming.
  • Creates or finds curriculum for Club staff to implement at each branch.
  • Enhance program quality through ongoing assessment and data-driven evaluation.
  • Maintain annual program calendars, recitals, showcases, and community performances.
  • Identifies specific age-appropriate objectives and collaborates with performing or musical arts organizations to increase artistic expression opportunities among the student community.
  • Develops criteria to demonstrate student impact and learning success.
  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment for all Club members.
  • Create opportunities for Club members to showcase artistic work through performances, exhibitions, and competitions.
  • Works with part-time staff to ensure the Performing Arts Center is well-equipped and utilized properly by Club members.
  • Works with Branch leadership to ensure the Performing Arts Center (or spaces) remain safe, clean, and organized.
  • Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
  • Models positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.
  • Promotes and demonstrates active supervision techniques when working with Club members.
  • Facilitates connections with other performing arts/music communities and external organizations to promote program participation and provide collaborative opportunities.
  • Works with Club staff to create and disseminate information to various stakeholders about student projects and progress.
  • Develop and expand community engagement initiatives including artist residencies, performances, and outreach events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May involve traveling between different Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Branches
