About The Position

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all citizens of the region by providing resources, programs and services, along with coordinating funding. The Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) is now accepting applications for Administrative Assistant, Announcement #2603 This is a full-time position located in the Texarkana, Texas, office. The position is responsible for greeting the public; for handling telephone calls; assisting with fax and copy machines as requested; and for providing secretarial, clerical and administrative support services as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) years experience in general clerical and office procedures
  • Knowledge of switchboard operations
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of proper spelling, punctuation and grammar usage
  • Knowledge of general office equipment
  • Skill/Ability to communicate pleasantly with the public, elected officials and employees
  • Skill/Ability to take clear and accurate messages
  • Skill/Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Skill/Ability to operate a variety of office machines required
  • Must demonstrate proficiency using a PC in a Windows environment, to include Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Must maintain front desk records with precision and accuracy
  • Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, governmental agencies, and the general public
  • Ability to see, hear, reach, stoop, bend, and lift and carry up to 30 pounds required
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license subject to an approved motor vehicle report and reliable transportation with valid proof of insurance for travel within the ATCOG region
  • Must perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or knowledge of Aging or other social services programs
  • Specialized clerical training may be substituted for experience
  • Digital marketing experience a plus
  • A State of Texas Notary Certification preferred
