This position supports the administrative needs for the Ashland University Schar College of Education, Department of Teacher Education. This work includes support related to efficient office operations, course scheduling, and responding to student inquiries. Computer competency, including university specific programs such as Colleague and Blackboard, is essential. Personal attributes of flexibility, excellent human relations skills, and professionalism are also essential. Maintains an office environment which is professional, respectful and welcoming. Provides necessary and appropriate administrative and clerical services. Develops and maintains office files that are complete, accurate and confidential. Assists with arrangements for department meetings and minutes. Monitors course registration and reports data to the Chair. Collects syllabi and schedules from all departmental faculty. Assists with departmental communication (mail, telephone calls, and emails). With direction from the chair, updates program check sheets each semester. Assists in maintaining and administering grant budget, accounts payable, and purchase orders. Assists in the preparation of departmental documents. Assists the Chair in the monitoring of faculty load. Prepares and sends appropriate correspondence to prospective students. Serves as liaison between the department and various campus offices. Assists with preparing departmental schedules each semester. Maintains active adjunct contacts and communicates directly with them when necessary. All other duties as assigned.
