About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine seeks an Administrative Assistant 4 to serve as the primary administrative liaison for the Departments of Surgery and Pathology in partnership with Renown. This position provides advanced administrative support to the Department Chair and oversees day-to-day departmental operations while coordinating closely with UNR Med, Renown, and campus partners. The Administrative Assistant 4 supports faculty recruitment and onboarding, performance evaluations, promotion and tenure processes, and required reporting for certification and compliance. The role coordinates departmental events, Grand Rounds, and academic activities in collaboration with OME, GME, and CME. Additional responsibilities include supporting scholarly and research activities, assisting with grant and award submissions, tracking IRB and research timelines, and coordinating meetings and documentation. The position also manages departmental purchasing, P-Card reconciliations, travel and hosting, faculty expenses, and continuing medical education allowances. Additional duties include maintaining departmental web content, coordinating IT requests, and providing comprehensive academic and operational support for faculty, learners, and leadership across both UNR Med and Renown.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
