About The Position

Great Basin College is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 2 for the Winnemucca Center. The purpose of this job is to provide administrative support to the center by performing a variety of support duties. This person will answer phones, greet the public, make appointments for academic advising and proctoring/tutoring in a positive, knowledgeable and efficient manner. The person in this position selects the most appropriate methods and tools to get the job done within established administrative guidelines, regulations or instructions. Information is obtained and verified from a variety of sources and requires explanation of a variety of regulations, requirements and procedures. Other duties include to receive, review, and process a variety of clerical accounting documents, produce materials such as brochures, newsletters, and flyers. Establish and maintain record-keeping systems such as student program data, and prepare and maintain property inventory records. Assist students in completing forms, prepare class schedules and addition/deletion forms. Additionally, the position will assist with the prison education program at Lovelock Correctional Center. This would include preparing and working with student information (enrollment sheets, class rosters, FAFSA), and entering student data. The position also tracks and distributes instructional material, coursework and textbooks as well asl responding to routine administrative student inquiries. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two (2) years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
