About The Position

Under direction and supervision of the Inpatient Director of Nursing the administrative assistant is responsible for performing comprehensive support services for nursing and for performing secretarial duties for the governing committees and other departments as assigned. Requirements

  • High School diploma required (will accept GED).
  • Competent and good working knowledge in all business machine operations and office management.
  • Education and experience as required by Inpatient Director of Nursing and Executive Director of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps Inpatient Director of Nursing informed of administrative activities, schedule of appointments, project progress, administrative issues and needs.
  • Cooperates with hospital staff to achieve goals and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental relations, and public relations.
  • Attends and records meetings as required such as in-service meetings, staff meetings, and committee meetings.
  • Keeps up-to-date in field of secretarial services as directed by Inpatient Director of Nursing.
  • Organizes work schedule according to daily and non-daily responsibilities and duties.
  • Answers telephone, receives and delivers messages.
  • Handles correspondence, filing, copy work, as well as data trending.
  • Perform clerical duties for Inpatient Director of Nursing.
  • Prepares and distributes notices of meetings.
  • Monthly addresses and sends birthday cards for employees.
  • Prepares staff meeting packet (including minutes and other related documents) monthly.
  • Assists with balancing staffing schedule.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Inpatient Director of Nursing or Executive Director of Nursing.
  • Keep Inpatient Director of Nursing informed of tasks that they are working on.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, department, and hospital information according to GAHHS and HIPPA guidelines.
  • Demonstrates self-direction learning and participation of continuing education to meet own developmental needs. Seeks validation of knowledge base, skill level, and decision making as necessary.
  • Is courteous and professional interacting with patients, physicians, and hospital personnel.
