About The Position

Adjunct Teaching position in the School of Music, teaching Music 195, 287, 293, & 298. Expected to teach the following courses: Music 195 Theory, Music 293 Aural Skills, Music 298 Sight-Singing, Music 287 Composition Seminar. Expected to have: A firm commitment to the Aims and Mission of BYU, A firm commitment to the mission of the School of Music, Ability to effectively mentor students, Exemplary leadership skills, Classroom management skills. This position requires the successful candidate to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.

Requirements

  • PhD in Music Composition or Music Theory (must be completed by the start date)
  • Minimum of two years of university-level music teaching experience, including undergraduate theory and ear training
  • A firm commitment to the Aims and Mission of BYU
  • A firm commitment to the mission of the School of Music
  • Ability to effectively mentor students
  • Exemplary leadership skills
  • Classroom management skills
  • Relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
