About The Position

Adjunct Instructor – Massage Therapy (Summer 2026) Course: MTP 135 – Foundations of Massage Therapy III Course Overview: MTP 135 – Foundations of Massage Therapy III advances students’ foundational massage therapy skills through clinical applications for common musculoskeletal conditions, such as low back and sciatic pain, headaches, knee conditions and more, as well as selected special populations, including prenatal clients, older adults, and clients with cancer-related considerations. The instructor guides students in developing evidence-informed treatment plans and clinical reasoning skills through integrated lecture and supervised hands-on laboratory experiences.

Requirements

  • Current IL Massage Therapy License
  • Completion of at least 30 college credit hours beyond massage therapy training, (official transcripts required)
  • Minimum of two years of professional massage therapy practice

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, (BCTMB)
  • Clinical experience with techniques and conditions addressed in this course
  • Prior teaching, training, or instructional experience in an academic or clinical setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective instruction in both lecture and laboratory settings that reflects evidence-informed massage therapy practices and supports achievement of established course and program learning outcomes.
  • Assess and document student competency through practical and written evaluations, and provide timely, constructive feedback based on course assessments.
  • Prepare, facilitate, and supervise laboratory activities while maintaining established safety standards and appropriate scope of practice.
  • Maintain accurate and complete course records, including syllabi, instructional materials, attendance, and grades, in accordance with College and program requirements.
  • Maintain current Illinois Massage Therapist licensure and model ethical and professional standards of practice.
  • Utilize established course curriculum and instructional materials, with the option to incorporate supplemental materials in consultation with the Program Coordinator.
  • Support student success by providing reasonable accommodations in accordance with College policies and applicable regulations.
