About The Position

Dean College's Dean R. Sanders '47 School of Business is looking for dynamic, experienced, student-centered educators to teach in the Sports Broadcasting major within the Communications Program during the Spring 2026 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty focusing on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds. We are seeking one or more adjunct instructors who can teach a variety of communications and sports broadcasting courses on topics including sports information, sports and entertainment media, media theory and more to teach one or two 3-credit courses that meet either in-person or synchronously online for 2.5 hours/week. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Communications program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College. The teaching slots where these courses are scheduled include: Monday/Wednesday - 11:00am-12:15pm Monday/Wednesday - 5:00-6:15pm Tuesday/Thursday - 8:00-9:15am

Requirements

  • Master's degree in communications or a related field is required; PhD in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the college level in person is required; experience teaching second- and third-year undergraduates is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills is required - experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy is required.
  • Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools is required.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media is required.
  • Expertise in learner-centered teaching is required.
  • Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Experience teaching second- and third-year undergraduates is preferred.
