We are seeking an instructor to teach one section of ENG 123: Mass Communications in spring 2026, in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11:15 a.m. at our Grayslake Campus. This course explores the history and functions of mass communication across print, broadcast, digital, and interactive media. Students will explore how media informs us, entertains us, persuades us, and sometimes manipulates us, while tracing the historical development of mass communication and its expanding role in American society. Throughout the course, students will examine the ethical, legal, and business challenges faced by journalists, content creators, and media organizations. The course also considers the future of mass media, including the influence of artificial intelligence, algorithms, and emerging technologies. The course includes units on: media literacy; media law; history of print media; evolution of television, radio and film; and social media.
