About The Position

St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in communication at its Mount Mercy campus in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This appointment will carry either tenure-track or professional faculty status depending on the credentials, experience, and priorities of the candidate. The anticipated rank of the appointment is at the assistant professor level (although candidates with more extensive experience may be appointed at a higher rank). Candidates should have some combination of knowledge, expertise and experience in the areas of Brand Communication and Public Relations. This position will join a newly created department in the Patricia VanBruwaene College of Business housing programs in Communication, Marketing, and Sales. This newly created department offers unique opportunities for collaboration and innovation across multiple disciplines. Start date is August 2026. Candidates should be prepared to teach courses in Public Relations, such as media writing, and brand communication, as well as other upper-level courses. Candidates will also be expected to teach multiple sections of a new University Core Curriculum course: Critical Conversations: Finding Your Voice and Building Relationships. Candidates should be willing to teach online, hybrid, and traditional seated courses (with appropriate support from the University); possess expertise and experience in PR/Brand Communication; be a learner-centered educator; have an appropriate program for their ongoing professional development; be willing to serve as an academic advisor; and to serve on various department, faculty, and university committees.
