The Department of Bioengineering is seeking a part-time adjunct faculty position (4 to 8 hours per week). There are two primary roles envisioned: (1) provide lectures and workshops for students in the Professional Masters program in Bioengineering, focusing on medical product design, development, and commercialization. (2) provide advisory and consulting services for participants in the Center for Medical Innovation Early-Stage Translational R&D Grant program. (3) provide career mentorship for students in the Professional MS program as required. The successful Candidate will be expected to perform the following: ● Teaching and Mentoring: ○ Provide lectures and/or workshops in the art of engineering innovation and team dynamics for graduate courses within the Bioengineering MS engineering curriculum, with a focus on relevant topics such as ethnographic research, needs finding, and medical device design. ○ Provide exceptional mentorship to students in the Professional MS program in Bioengineering, guiding their project work and fostering their professional growth in the medical technology sector. ● Contribute to Interdisciplinary Innovation: ○ Guide students in the identification and analysis of unmet clinical needs and the generation of early-stage product concepts for innovative medical devices, instruments, or systems. ○ Provide advice and consulting to participants in the Center for Medical Innovation (CMI) Early-Stage Translational Research Seed Grant program. ● Intellectual Property (IP) Development: ○ Actively partner with CMI program participants and student innovators in the development of novel intellectual property, and working with the university's technology transfer office to file patent applications. ○ Develop strategies for the maturation and de-risking of early-stage technology.
