Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, and service, seeks dynamic applicants who can engage and inspire a diverse student body as an adjunct instructor in the Music program of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts. This one-semester position ranges from August 19-December 4, 2026 with the potential for renewal. This position entails teaching Applied Music Bassoon Instruction to 2-20 students, 1-10 classroom hours per week, contingent upon course enrollments, in MUSC 1040 or 2040 (individualized weekly instruction, for students ranging in experience from beginner to advanced). Adjunct Instructors are responsible for course planning and instruction. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation, and timely and accurate submission of required paperwork related to instruction.

Requirements

  • Hold a Master of Arts in Music, Master of Music, or DMA degree
  • Have experience teaching a variety of genres including standard classical repertoire
  • Have an ability to deliver high-level music instruction to University students as is required for their degree program, as well as to students who are non-majors and non-minors with varying degrees of experience
